I used french seams throughout as the cut edges were prone to whiskers, a few of which I had to trim from the french seams, but otherwise it was no trouble at all. I used a 75/11 universal needle and changed the pressure of the presser foot to 1 which was recommended by my manual for lightweight fabrics like chiffon and georgette.
The Elegant Escape dress has had the side seams taken in a little and I
lowered the front of the neckline. I scooped it bit too much and lost
the boat shape which is unfortunate but it doesn't strangle me any more and I will wear it now.
I am off on a cruise in two weeks so will not be sewing for a little while. I will use the time to consider what I would like to make next.
Your slippery snakeskin top turned out very well Kathy, despite your trepidation, and your dress looks lovely on you. I think the shape of the neckline is very flattering too. Enjoy your cruise.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jean Margaret. I'm looking forward to 12 days of not having to do anything. :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad you saved the dress - it's just perfect for your climate. And the top is superb - it works nicely and suits you. I often find the things I think are going to be difficult work out quite easily- and the simple things, perhaps because I don't concentrate as well thinking they are simple, cause me problems :). Enjoy your break.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you saved the dress too, because I really liked it and now it looks perfect on you! The top is so cute and must be comfy, as those slippery, slidey fabrics tend to wear nicely, even when they don't always behave during the construction process. Have a great time on your cruise!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely time on your cruise. Both turned out rather nice, and look very comfortable. Really like the top.
ReplyDeleteI so like this dress and it would have been perfect for a cruise.
